On October 29- 31 four elite members of Grayville High School FFA traveled with their advisor to Louisville, KY to represent the Grayville Chapter at the 87th National FFA Convention. Mitch Malone, Torin Lee, Jarred Lee, and Gavin Martin were among 60,000 FFA members from across the nation gathered to compete in national contests, explore career fields, tour agribusinesses and the city of Louisville, and mingle with others members from across the country. During their three day stay, Grayville members were inspired by the power and magnitude of the National FFA organization. When students weren’t busy attending convention sessions, workshops, or participating in the career show, they got to tour Kentucky Down Under Adventure Zoo, explore in the Mammoth Onyx Cave, go horseback riding through the Kentucky Country side, learn about the horse racing industry at Churchill Downs, enjoy some chapter bonding time while visiting Asylum, and even got to be serenaded by Easton Corbin and Justin Moore FFA concert! The trip was truly an unforgettable experience! Members are selected to participate in the trip based on an awards system. Students get points for every activity they participate in throughout the year and at the end of the year they are rewarded with one of 5 seats on next year’s trip to the National Convention. FFA develops students’ potential for premier leadership, personal growth, and career success through agricultural education.
