STUDENT INFORMATION

ACADEMICS MISSION STATEMENT

It is the goal of Grayville Community Unit School District #1 to provide all students with facts and experiences that will lead to a continuation of essential learning. This will aid our youth in becoming self-sufficient individuals mentally, physically, socially, and morally and will allow them to meet the demands of a rapidly changing society. It is essential that students develop a positive self-image through the personal development of initiative, resourcefulness, responsibility, and perseverance.

It is the intent of this faculty to lead students toward being disciplined, productive, informed, and fulfilled individuals. However, to achieve these goals, mutual respect and understanding must be present in the learning process by all participants: faculty, students, and community. Working together, we will be able to reach our collective and individual goals and celebrate the achievements of our students. See what we offer below, from general required classes to dual-credit coursework.

ELEMENTARY SCHEDULE

JR HIGH/HIGH SCHOOL SCHEDULE

athletics

Grayville CUSD #1 believes that sportsmanship is a core value and its promotion and practice are essential. One of the missions of co-curricular school activities is to serve as an extension of the classroom. There are strong lessons to be learned in athletics. One of those lessons is to set and maintain high standards of sportsmanship, ethics, and integrity in our schools and our society. It is up to staff, parents and community members to provide the direction and constant vigilance under which good sportsmanship can prosper and have a positive impact on our children, the leaders of tomorrow, and ourselves.

music

Music is a natural form of expression in the development of children and should be an integral part of the school curriculum from preschool throughout high school.  The music program has aesthetic, creative, cultural, and academic values that complete and further the educational and social values of a quality education.  The school is responsible for helping all children understand and enjoy music.  It should assist in discovering and nurturing musical talent.  Every child should have the opportunity to develop their potentiality for musical expression through exploration, experimentation, exposure, and enrichment.

visual arts

Imagination, observation, and creativity are all important skills for life.  It is the goal of the Visual Arts Department to help each student to learn to appreciate and enjoy the Visual Arts and to give them plenty of opportunities to practice these skills.

At Grayville Jr./Sr. High School we offer Jr. High Art, Intro to Art, Art 1, 2, & 3, Animation, Photography & Video classes.
